The history of Granada tells of many influences that successive cultures have left on the city's architecture. The city flourished as a trading center under the Moors. Although many of the Moorish and Arabic influences in the city were willfully destroyed by the following cultures, it still represents one of the most complete examples of Moorish buildings and architecture in Europe.
With the Christian influences, architecture conformed to the Gothic and Renaissance styles that were commonplace throughout central Europe.
