Van Gogh Art Quilt suggestions?
So I’ve decided to redecorate my room with a Van Gogh theme, but as hard as I’ve looked I can’t find any bedding to match. I’ve only done simple quilts before, but I’d really like to do an art quilt of A Starry Night, and some pillow shams of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. Any suggestions on how to get started and practice before I dive into the real thing?
Exclusively Quilters has a line of fabric called “Tribute to Vincent”.
One of the fabrics is a repeat of Starry Night (it’s my son’s favorite) – the repeats are about 8″ high by 12″ wide. I took a yard of that, cut it into pieces, and then used them with other fabrics to make a quilt for my son.
Other fabrics in the same line are based on other paintings – one fabric has panels of various paintings. Some of their fabrics are just allover designs with brush strokes similar to those used in his paintings.
I’m having a hard time finding online sites still selling the Starry Night fabric, but I was in my local quilt shop on Friday and they still had some. You may need to find quilt shops in your area and call them and ask them if they have any of the fabrics in this line.
