[The musical :Quilters]?
Ok, I have to do a monolouge from this musical called ”Quilters’ and I have never even heard of it. If you have heard of it I need pictures of the outfits they wore back then and what a “Sunbonnet Sue” quilt is. I am doing a monologe that Annie says if that helps.
This musical is set in the 1880′s, so for clothing, think “Little House on the Prairie.” Try a long skirt, a long sleeved blouse, and a long apron.
A Sunbonnet Sue quilt is an applique block (where you sew cut out shapes onto another piece of fabric) that looks like a little girl in profile, with a great big bonnet that covers her face. Although it a redwork variation (redwork is red embroidery on plain white fabric) was around in the late 1800′s the block we generally recognize as “Sunbonnet Sue” didn’t actually become popular into the early 1900′s. Of course, neither did the “Double Wedding Ring,” which is also used in that musical. Check the link below for some pictures and history.
