I have the pattern for the Ohio Star quilt block. Can anyone tell me the yardage (3 colors) for 12 blocks?
There is also a variation of this block with triangles in the corners and I would also like to know what the yardage for 12 blocks for this would be. I would like my blocks to be at least 12 inches or larger.
Since you don’t specify color placement (which fabrics are going where), I’m going to assume that the first color is in the center only, the second color is in the outside corners and the background of the hourglass squares, and the third color is the foreground of the hourglass squares.
For twelve blocks that are a finished 12″ size, you need:
Color 1 – 3/8 yd
Color 2 – 1 1/4 yd
Color 3 – 3/8 yd
These amounts are based on 42″ wide fabric, and do not include any additional fabric for alternate squares, sashing, borders, backing, or binding.
