How much fabric will I need for this?
I’d like to make a Halloween costume where I am a bottle of nail polish. I will be surrounded in a square of red fabric. I have no idea how big it should be except maybe 3 feet long? Idk I’m 5 ft tall…. please help!
Fabric can be 48 or 56 inches wide or sometimes it’s narrower and there are 36 inches in 1 yard of fabric, which is how fabric is sold. You’ll need a front and back obviously and some room to make wide sides. Depending on the width of the fabric you select, I’d say 2 and 1/2 yards will be sufficient. However, I suggest to talk the the person who will cut the fabric for you and have them help you decide. Are you going to stitch it together or place the fabric over cardboard or some other form or what so that it’s stiff and looks kinda like a bottle, What about the cap to the bottle. Will you need a different color for that. I’d say another yard or maybe a half yard for that, depending on the width of the fabric you choose.
