Clearance Sale Items
The Great Depression is over. But global financial recession has set in, and the times are tougher than ever. We need to be smart shoppers. We need to be thrifty. During these hard times, clearance sales make all the difference.
A clearance or a closeout is the final sale of an item with the intention of reducing stocks to zero, meaning the store’s management wants it all gone down to the last piece. The item put up for sale is called the clearance item. A clearance sale may cover some or all of the items in the store.
It should be noted that a clearance sale may not always be a cause for celebration. For instance, a total clearance sale may be a sign that the business is closing down for good, in which case the sale becomes known as a fire sale or a going-out-of-business sale. A product may also be put up as a clearance item if it doesn’t sell well enough for the store to want to keep it on the shelves.
The popularity of clearance sales among consumers has prompted some people to set up clearance stores. Clearance stores sell their merchandise at very low prices, much like a regular store on clearance sale. Good business thinking is required to be able to manage a clearance store and still make up a profit.
From the looks of it, this clearance sale business is here to stay. Stores need it to make room on their shelves, while consumers need it to fill their shelves.
