3 Tips For Labrador Retriever Dog Training
Just like other breed of dogs, Labradors also have intense desire to please their masters. They are playful in nature with very high energy level. As they are intelligent breed of dogs, they can learn anything trained to them quite quickly and easily. They go well with kids and other pets and make a perfect watchdog. Learn these 3 useful tips and accomplish Labrador retriever dog training effectively.
1. Early Training
Early training simply goes with the same philosophy that is applicable with the human’s child too. When a child is taught good behaviors and manners from the early age, he turns out to be the better man in the future. In the same way, when you try to teach your children manners after he grows up, then he doesn’t listen to you. If he has picked up some bad habits and is going in the wrong path, then it is very hard to bring him to the right path. So, to prevent these kinds of negative behaviors, you should teach your child from the early period. The same thing happens in the case of Labrador dog too.
2. Patience/Consistency
Let me give an example of human child again. A new born child doesn’t learn to speak in just a day or weeks. He doesn’t learn to walk in just a week or months. It takes the hard work of months and years to teach the children to speak and walk. It takes even more years to bring out the better man from him. The same thing can be applied in the case of Labrador dog. You need to work with patience and consistency to turn your Labrador puppy into intelligent, smart and obedient dog.
3. Encouragement With Rewards
Rewards or treats are a part of positive reinforcement which is the best way to train any breed of dogs. A Positive reinforcement says that you don’t need to do anything extra to keep your dog in control. Just ignore what you don’t like to see and your Labrador is supposed to stop that habit to gain your attention again. You should encourage your Labrador by providing him treats whenever you see that he is doing well in training. It motivates him to repeat such activities again and again at your commands. While you are engaged in Labrador retriever dog training, you should always be optimistic and wait for the result with patience.
