I am making a rag quilt and i am wondering?
how and why i should press the seams?
You can press the seams if you want. My daughter made one of those things. She left 1/2 inch seam allowance which should have been 3/4 we now think so that she could clip the seam allowance 1/2 inch deep.
She double stitched the seams so that it wouldn’t accidently get clipped or tear through.
She also clipped the seams at 1/4 inchs apart. It is a very nice coverlet with fuzzy seams all over it.
Regular quilting you press the seams to the darker side but then too they are covered over andyou want them to lie flat, where the rag quilt you want them to stand and wave.
After washing the quilt twice and drying it the thing was gorgeous.
