Looking for a good book to read!?
I’ll give you the last five books I’ve read and you give me the top three that you would recommend in the same genre or topic…
1. Thomas Merton- The Seven Storey Mountain
2. The Blessing- Gary Smalley & John Trent
3. The Four Loves- C.S. Lewis
4. Simply Christian- N.T. Wright
5. Go Big with Small Groups Eleven Steps to an Explosive Small Group Ministry- Bill Easum & John Atkinson
If you cannot see the pattern, it is Christianity. I am a nineteen year old young man, who plans to go to seminary after college, eager to soak up any and all wisdom that will help me in ministry. I like books that change my life (who doesn’t) some books that have for me are Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and most importantly The Bible. I would love it if some devout Christians out there could recommend me a few books that benefited their personal walk with Jesus Christ. Thanks!
If you haven’t read it yet, I thought”The Problem of Pain” by C.S. Lewis was astonishing. I would also recommend anything by Donald Miller, Marva Dawn, Lauren Winner, or Anne Lamott. While these authors are a little lighter than Lewis, as a twenty-three year old, I’ve found a lot of insight and meaning in their writings.
