Should I consider it a compliment when guys say “I’ve always wanted an Asian woman?”?
I mean, come on… it’s not like we’re from another planet or have horizontally-oriented (pardon the pun) body parts. What is with bamboo fever, anyway? Me, I’ve always wanted an Acura NSX.
The bamboo fever, as you call it, is coming from the idea that Asian culture is seen as sophisticated. And, the women are seen as exotic with soft physical features. However, I wouldn’t take it as a compliment when someone says that to you. I’m not Asian, but I wouldn’t like it if a guy said, “Gosh, I’ve always wanted to date a white woman!” That’s insulting because it makes me wonder if he is picking someone based on race, which is just as bad as NOT picking a date based on date. Also, it’s like he is using you as a trophy.
