Futons : Simple, Functional & Cost Effective
From a land known these days for its advancements in modern day technology, there also hails an ancient convenience known for giving one a restful night’s sleep. The futon, which means bedding in the Japanese language, has long been hugely popular in Japan, and in recent years has soared in popularity elsewhere in the world. A futon set is made up of a mattress, quilt and pillow. A cover is often included too, but not always. The mattress is placed inside the cover which greatly aids in keeping the entire bedding clean and fresh. The pillow, and this may seem strange, is filled with beans and / or buckwheat. Yes, beans and buckwheat. Give them a try and you might well be surprised at just how comfortable they are. The mattress itself is usually stuffed with cotton or synthetic batting. You may occasionally come across one filled with wool, but they are fairly rare these days. Mattresses are around 3 to 5 inches thick and places directly on to the floor. As people usually perspire during sleep, the futon has been designed to absorb moisture. Sleeping on the a relatively thin mattress on the floor is actually very good for your back too. When the time to rise and shine comes, you usually have to spend 5 minutes making your bed. You can just roll up a futon and put in your closet or in the corner of your room. The room may then be converted back to its natural state for daytime use. Therefore, for students and people living in accommodation that is short on space, futons really are ideal. So, the next time you are thinking of buying a bed, maybe look into a traditional futon. Once you have tried them, you will wonder why it took you so long to buy one!
