Quilts Tell Many Stories
A new baby on the way, an anxious mother is in labor; the nervous father sits and waits for news on his long-awaited child. This is a familiar tale told each day in hundreds of hospitals around the world by millions of families and their respective doctors.
Quilts tell also many stories. Only this one will tell a different tale. This story has a new baby on the way and a mother giving birth, though there is no father with her by her side. The Internet provided him with the only opportunity to be witness to his child coming into the world. This proud father was taking care of business for “Uncle Sam” in Irag and could only be with his wife digitally when his little one came fighting into this world.
A quilt will wrap around the new little one and hold her safe until her Daddy can come home to take over. Wrapped in these threads are tears of love, tears hope, tears of worry and of joy for the new life that is about to begin, and the one that is constantly danger in a land far from home.
A quilt has will keep the new little cuddly warm and secure, while her Daddy was gone on a mission protecting her and others in this great land of the United States and others in the World.
A quilt will give her world color, while her Daddy is bringing a brighter day for those in a world where life may the future not be a bright for those children as for his own.
A quilt will give her life a sense of history. For behind each square and triangle of material lies a rich history of the passion of the quilter who designed the quilt just for the new baby, as her Daddy marches into a strange land making his mark on the future. Someday his “little one” will read in her classroom how her Daddy’s sacrifice and dedication made history, as he did his part to make our world a safe place for not only his new daughter but for all in this world.
