Do You Need Flag Pole Accessories?
While you may not know it, there are many different kinds of flags, such as national, state, local and custom flags. You can find flags at sporting activities, flags for businesses and flags that commemorate holidays, and every one of those types of flags has a distinctive protocol for how they must be handled. Because there are so many different types of flags out there, flag etiquette can be quite complex at times. When you are looking at custom flags – the ones you print out on your own, for your business or event – you can determine your own personal guidelines for decorum and etiquette. For national flags, such as the American flag, there are many set principles that everybody should stick to. Whether you keep a single flag pole out front for the American flag, or you have several flag poles with other flags, the United States flag should always be higher up than every other flag, and it shouldn’t at any time touch the ground. Basically, the American flag needs to be the center point of any flag display. For those who have some other flags besides the U.S. flag, such as sports flags or flags from various other countries, then your American flag should normally be on the right. This holds true when you have multiple flagpoles, but if all your flags are on a single flag pole, then your American flag should be the top. For places that have many flags from different nations, ensure the other countries are at an equal height. This set up shows that we’re at peace. If you choose to put your flag in a window, instead of going through the trouble of buying flagpole hardware, poles, decorations and such, then just be sure that the blue portion of the American flag (also referred to as the union) looks like it is on the left if someone is looking at it from the outside. If you wish to hang the flag outdoors, but you do not have any of the flag pole acessories aside from the pole itself, then you might need to check online to find the best deals. You may want the rope pully system, you might want an eagle to put on top of the flag pole, or you might require a new latch that will attach the string to the flag. Whatever you need, you can probably find it less expensive online than if you were to visit a bricks-and-mortar retailer. In addition to the national flag, there are several designs for custom flags that you might select for your company or local sports team. The companies that produce these types of flags usually can include your pattern into a banner, tear drop flag or a flag for your vehicle. In terms of flag etiquette, the only real protocols that apply are for the national or state flags. For custom flags, such as the kinds you would use for a company, how you handle them is up to you. However, remember, the better you treat your custom flags, the longer they’ll last and the better they will look.
